Ordering Insulation for a Loft Conversion: What to Send Your Supplier

Ordering insulation for a loft conversion is easier when your supplier has the exact product specification, dimensions and quantities.

Send TSAR your materials schedule or confirmed insulation requirements, together with your delivery postcode. Andy and the team can check availability, pricing and delivery options across London and Greater London.

Confirm the specification before calculating the order

Choosing the technical specification and working out the order quantity are separate tasks.

The specification establishes which insulation product, thickness and construction arrangement the project needs. The order calculation establishes how many boards, rolls or packs to buy.

A quantity calculation does not confirm that a product is suitable. Use the specification agreed with your project designer and the relevant manufacturer’s guidance before placing your order.

If an alternative product is suggested, have it checked by the person responsible for the specification before accepting it.

Send the exact product details

A brand name or thickness alone may not identify the insulation you need. Include:

  • Manufacturer and full product name or code.

  • Required thickness.

  • Board length and width, or roll dimensions.

  • Where each product will be used.

  • Quantity required, or the measured area for each application.

  • Any specified performance requirements.

A loft conversion may use different insulation products in the roof, walls and floor. List each separately so the quote clearly shows what is required.

Browse our insulation range to find the relevant product pages, then check the exact product against your specification.

Check board dimensions and pack coverage

Before converting an area into an order, confirm the dimensions and coverage of the actual product.

For example, a board measuring 2.4 metres by 1.2 metres covers 2.88 square metres before cutting. That is a calculation example, not a recommended board size for your project.

For products sold in packs, check how many boards are included and the total coverage at the required thickness. Pack coverage can differ between products and thicknesses.

Calculate each specified layer separately. Dividing area by coverage gives a starting quantity; the final order should also account for the cutting layout, appropriate waste allowance and pack rounding.

Share your materials schedule

If your builder or designer has prepared a materials schedule, send it with your enquiry.

Keep the product reference, thickness and quantity together on each line. If you send drawings, identify the relevant insulation notes and confirm that they are the current version.

Tell us whether the quantities already include cutting allowances so these are not added twice.

Plan delivery and storage

Include your postcode, preferred delivery date and any restrictions on vehicle access or unloading.

Check that there is suitable space to receive and store the materials in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. Tell us about narrow entrances, parking restrictions or timed site access.

Confirm the unloading point and who will move the materials from there. Do not assume that delivery includes carrying insulation upstairs or into the loft.

Read our delivery information before arranging your order.

Request a loft conversion insulation quote
